Ja Rule's real name is Jeffrey Bruce Atkins and he was born on 29 February 1976 in Queens. Early in the childhood, his father left him. His mother worked as a healthcare worker on long shifts to make the ends meet. Ja was raised by his grandparents but it wasn’t a happy childhood. Poverty was a huge part of his world and unfortunately, he was surrounded by drug dealers. In his book, he has openly talked about it, in his early adolescence he thought selling drugs was the only means to get success. He found it fairly easy to just get a pack and start selling it on the streets. He desperately wanted to make money to help out his mother. Now when he’s older he realized how messed up that whole situation was. Rule had even sold drugs to his friends’ parents, the usage of drug was fairly common in his neighborhood so much so that his regular customers were the parents of the children he went to school with.
